Product Review: SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo

To keep my hair healthy I want to make sure it's being properly cleaned. Using a clarifying or deep cleansing shampoo will help with that because they remove dirt, product build-up, and sweat that will accumulate over time.

My search for a clarifying or deep cleansing shampoo led me to SheaMoisture. In particular the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo.

After using it for a while, my first impressions of the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo after using it on my relaxed hair didn't make me a believer. The consistency of the shampoo was thinner than I was used to making it runny which ended up not being a problem. The thinner consistency made this shampoo perfect for use in an applicator bottle.

At first, I didn't notice any difference in my scalp issues. It took using it several weeks for my scalp to itch and flake less. On the plus side, it made my hair feel clean after using, but not squeaky clean where it felt stripped of all moisture.

Final verdict

There was a period of time when I stopped using the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo because when I did it made my scalp itch something fierce. I'm not sure if something was wrong with the batch I bought. I'm now using the shampoo again and haven't encountered any additional issues.
